The police clear way for strike hit buses.
Police were called at about 6 a.m yesterday yo clear members of the Singapore's Bus Drivers Union from the gate of the Hock Lee Almalga- mated Bus Company's Depot in Alexandra Road.
The workers,who were sacked by the company on Sunday, were stopping each bus and urging the crew to stop work in sympathy.The present crew belong to the rival Hock Lee Bus Employees' Union.
Police intervened after five or six buses had been stopped.They cleared a path without incident. Thirty eight of the seventy buses were then taken on the road.
The union members however continued their attempts to get the bus crew to stop workny picketing main bus stops.Their posters asked for public co-operation
